Over the February 6th–8th weekend, the Soo U15A Greyhounds travelled to Aurora, Ontario, joining fifteen other teams from across Ohio, Utah, and Ontario to compete in the 2026 International Silver Stick Aurora Girls Tournament, one of the most competitive showcases on the minor hockey calendar.
The tournament opened on February 6, where the Greyhounds faced a tough Waterloo Ravens squad in their first game of the event, falling 4–0 despite strong effort and goaltending. The Soo rebounded later that evening in a tightly contested matchup against the Cleveland Lady Barons, earning a 2–1 victory to close out opening day on a positive note.
Action continued on February 7, with the Greyhounds edging the Bluewater Hawks 4–3 in an exciting afternoon game that featured balanced scoring and determined play at both ends of the ice. That momentum carried into the evening as the Soo met the Cambridge Roadrunners in the quarter-finals. In a hard-fought playoff battle, the Greyhounds came out on top with a 2–1 win, punching their ticket to the semifinals.
On February 8, the Greyhounds took the ice in the semifinals against the Barrie Sharks, delivering one of their strongest performances of the tournament. The Soo controlled the pace and capitalized on scoring chances, earning a 3–2 victory to advance to the gold medal game. In the championship final later that afternoon, the Greyhounds faced the South Huron Sabres. Despite a determined effort and a close contest, the Soo held on to finish the tournament as gold medalists with a 1 – 0 win over the Sabres.
With a strong showing against top-tier competition from multiple regions, the Soo U15A Greyhounds now turn their focus south of the border. The team will head to Grand Rapids, Michigan, over the February 21st and 22nd weekend to compete in the 2026 Hockey Fights Cancer Showcase, continuing an impressive stretch of high-level tournament play.
