The Sault Surge Aquatic Team is gearing up for the 2026-27 season with practices set to begin the week of September 21, 2026 at the John Rhodes Community Centre pool.

New swimmers can register for the new season by visiting the club’s website at www.saultsurge.com. Swimmers must be aged 7 and be able to swim 25m unassisted in order to join the program. The club offers a two week trial period for new swimmers.

The club will employ nearly a dozen NCCP trained coaches, under the direction of returning head coach Rod Thomas, to direct the program of over 100 swimmers in 6 training groups aged 7-17.

The Surge will host the first North Eastern Ontario swim meet of the season at the Rhodes pool October 26-27 with over 200 athletes expected to compete with many hoping to eventually qualify for the Canadian Trials to select the team to represent Canada at the 2028 LA Olympics.

The North-Eastern Ontario Dave Kensit Memorial Regional Championships will also be hosted at the Rhodes in February 2027. The Sault Surge finished a close second at the 2026 event behind the Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club. The annual Superior Shores Challenge cup Invitational meet hosted by the Surge is set for April 30-May 2, 2027.
