Lake Superior Figure Skating Club Pre Novice figure skater, Yvonne Barnes competed this week at the Skate Ontario November Sectional Series figure skating competition in Richmond Hill, Ontario November 3-4, 2022.

Yvonne had successful results, placing 1st in group 3, bringing home a gold medal.

Having already secured a spot for the upcoming Skate Ontario Sectional Championships, which will be held in Richmond Hill in December, 2022, the November competition gave Barnes the opportunity to present some new and more difficult elements before a judge’s panel. This was an excellent training opportunity and helps Barnes and her coach, Kerry Bain to plan for her next competition.

The Skate Ontario Sectional Championships is a qualifying event for Skate Canada Challenge. Challenge is a national competition which brings together the top skaters from across the country. Team Ontario Pre Novice ladies will be
made up of the top 16 skaters from the Sectional Championships. Challenge will be held in Regina, Saskatchewan January 25-28, 2023.
