Elite 8 Basketball Academy to Offer Skill Development in Sault Ste Marie, Join Today

The Elite 8 Basketball Academy is excited to announce that it will be starting Skill Development Training Sessions in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario for grades 3-13 starting June 16th at the Health and Wellness Centre located at Sault College.

The Academy is a year round skill development program dedicated to teaching young athletes in the Sault and Algoma district the necessary physical basketball skills to succeed, and assist them in acquiring the necessary basketball decision making skills to excel, in a fun and safe learning environment.

During the summer session, players will participate in one hour practice sessions once a week for ten weeks. There will also be opportunities for extra time for those at the varsity level.

At the elementary school grade 3-6 grade levels, practice sessions will consist of drills for skills, as well as participating in fun games and scrimmages. New nets have been purchased for the younger grades.

At the Grade 7 to 13 levels, practice sessions will consist of game-like Drills for Skills, 3 v 3, 4 v 4 and 5 v 5 small sided games, as well as full court scrimmages.

Sessions will be lead by local varsity and club basketball coach Ryan Lillington who will be assisted by many other qualified coaches to be announced very shortly. There will also be many varsity aged assistants working alongside coach Lillington during the elementary grade sessions.

Sessions are scheduled for Thursday nights between 5:00 p.m – 9:00 p.m and Sunday from 3:00-9:00pm. Days and times for each group will be determined as the registrations come in. We are going to DO OUR BEST to accommodate those playing multiple sports.

The Elite 8 Basketball Academy is not competing with any of the existing clubs or camps currently being run in Sault Ste. Marie. Jeff (Steel City Slam), Etienne (EJ BALLERS), and Ryan (Algoma Thunderbirds  Mike (Small Ball), Anthony (TMX) and the YMCA run amazing programs for our young athletes. Elite 8 hopes you continue to support these programs the same way you have in the past. Coach Lillington is currently involved in two of those programs and will continue to be moving forward.

The Elite 8 Basketball Academy is just MORE basketball for our young athletes in an area of need. We plan on working with all six of the existing organizations in terms of scheduling and sharing resources.

When it comes to improving one’s game…..MORE IS BETTER!!
