Diego Da Silva of the Rock Scores a Hat Trick in Win Over Eagles at the Pullar

A three-goal night off the stick of Diego Da Silva, which included the game-winner, helped send the Timmins Rock to a narrow 4-3 triumph versus the Soo Eagles Saturday, September 27th in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Pullar Stadium.

While there were quality chances at both ends of the ice in the first period, the efforts of the night’s respective goaltenders, the Rock’s Ayden Mullen and the Eagles Jace Knoerle kept it scoreless.

Moving to the middle frame, Timmins did open the scoring at 7:53 when Da Silva collected his first in the NOJHL by spinning in the left circle and ripping a shot by Knoerle.

Answering with a man advantage effort shortly after that, Sault Ste. Marie’s Logan Stawizynski worked a quick give-and-go with Nolan Nemecek that he finished off while darting down the right side and whistled past Mullen.

Retaking the lead while up a skater once again, Da Silva snapped him his second of the session from a similar spot on the ice.

Tying it once again on the power play, Micah Seery snagged the rebound off a Carter Huckson point blast and swatted it in from the left side.

Hitting his hat trick early in the third, Da Silva wheeled around the Soo net and put a play out that clipped off a defender and bounced in a 1:23.

Jack Quevillon then made it 4-2 Rock 19 seconds later when he snapped one through traffic from the right point.

With an empty net late, the Eagles got back to within one after Anden Marceau jammed in a loose puck with bodies piled up out front.

Timmins held on from there however to collect the road win.
