Over the October 24th and 25th weekend, the Sault College Cougars women’s hockey program delivered a statement performance on home ice, sweeping the visiting Adrian College Bulldogs in decisive fashion during ACHA Division II action. The Cougars fired on all cylinders, combining relentless offense with airtight goaltending to outscore the Bulldogs 24–0 across the two-game series.
Friday night saw an offensive explosion from the Cougars, who wasted no time setting the tone. Danika West opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game before the floodgates opened. Katelynn Jacques led the charge with a remarkable four-goal outing, bringing her season total to seven, while Emma Lee and Payton Stos each added multi-point performances. By the final buzzer, 10 different Cougars had found the scoresheet, including first goals of the season for Hayden Dunn, Matea Glavota, and Reece Laidlaw.
Goaltender Farrah Farstad stood tall when called upon, turning aside all seven shots she faced to secure the shutout in a dominant 17–0 victory.
The Cougars carried that momentum into Saturday’s matchup, once again dictating the pace from start to finish. A power play goal from Abygail McDonald opened the scoring midway through the first period, followed by tallies from Reece Laidlaw, Payton Stos, and Katelynn Jacques. Stos, West, and Sullivan continued their strong offensive chemistry, each adding assists in the 4–0 win.
In goal, Danali Forsyth was flawless, stopping all 27 shots to earn the shutout and complete the weekend sweep for Sault College.
With the pair of shutout victories, the Cougars showcased their depth, speed, and growing team chemistry early in the season. Next up, they’ll hit the road for a three-game weekend in Fargo, North Dakota, from November 7th to 9th, looking to keep their winning momentum rolling south of the border.
