
At the Desbarats Arena on Monday, February 9th, the CASS Huskies and the St. Mary’s Knights wrapped up the 2026 Sault Ste. Marie Girl’s High School Hockey League regular season with a decisive 8–2 victory for the Huskies.
The opening period featured plenty of action from both sides. CASS opened the scoring at 14:54 when Riley Reed netted her fifth goal of the season on an unassisted effort. The Knights responded at 8:39 as Ashlyn Kobzick tied the game at one, scoring her 11th of the season with assists from Maya Robibaro and Jasmine Wilson. The Huskies regained the lead at 1:26 on the power play when Kenneth Shaw scored her third of the season, assisted by Riley Reed. CASS added another late goal with just 14 seconds remaining in the period as Kendall Kleist finished off a play set up by Olivia Alton and Dani Stewart to give the Huskies a 3–1 lead after one.
In the second period, CASS continued to build momentum. At 8:20, Kenneth Shaw struck again for her second goal of the game and fourth of the season, with helpers from Mika Stewart and Kendall Kleist to make it 4–1. St. Mary’s answered back on the power play at 3:22 when Dana Fitzsimmons scored her third of the season, assisted by Ashlyn Kobzick and Riley Archambault, cutting the deficit to 4–2 heading into the third.
The Huskies pulled away in the final frame, starting at 9:24 when Kalie Cooke scored her first goal of the season on an unassisted play. Just over a minute later at 1:36, Dani Stewart added her seventh of the year, also unassisted, to make it 6–2. At 1:16, Riley Reed capped off a strong night with her second goal of the game and sixth of the season, assisted by Abby Daynard and Kalie Cooke. CASS closed out the scoring at 39 seconds remaining on the power play as Mika Stewart notched her second of the season, with assists from Dani Stewart and Kendall Kleist.
Between the pipes, Cassidy Cooke backstopped the Huskies, while Alex Lepore tended goal for the Knights.
With the regular season now complete and due to the Korah Colts and Superior Heights Steelhawks finishing first with a record of 6-2-1, the Colts were crowned the 2026 regular season with the head to head results and the Superior Heights Steelhawks finishing second in the standings, followed by the CASS Huskies at 4-3-2, while the St. Mary’s Knights closed the season at 0-9. Attention now turns to the postseason, as the 2026 Sault Ste. Marie Girl’s High School Hockey League semifinals take place on Wednesday, February 11th. The Colts will face the Knights at 11:00 a.m, followed by the Steelhawks taking on the CASS Huskies in a 12:30 p.m puck drop. Both semifinal matchups will be broadcast live on Saultsports TV from the John Rhodes Centre.
