The Algoma Thunderbirds had a great opening to their season at the McMaster Invitational on October 30th.

First year standout Lilah Fraser was the top performer. Taking home the silver medal at the women’s 76kgs weight class, Lilah wrestled tough to pin her opponent.

Second year wrestler Larissa Weston placed third in the 82kg women’s weight class. Another notable performance was seen from our first year dual sport varsity athlete, Gabriel Martynuck, who went 2-2 in a tough 82kg men’s weight class.

Overall, the Thunderbirds had an outstanding performance. Head Coach Trevor Manchester is excited to get on the mat this week, fine tune moves from this weekend, and prepare for the next competition at TMU on November 13th.
