The Algoma Thunderbird wrestlers took to the road once again on Sunday, November 13 for the TMU Open hosted by Toronto Metropolitan University.
Lilah Fraser, who also brought home a silver medal from McMaster, faced Vanessa Fonrose (McMaster) in her last match. With another successful win, she placed first in the 76 kg category. This also leaves her ranked 3rd at 76kg in USports rankings.
Kira Buck also made a name for herself this past weekend, winning silver in the 82kg category. She is ranked fourth in USports rankings at 82 kg.
A familiar name you may recognize is Emily Duchesne. She was awarded Athlete of the Year last season, and did extremely well representing Algoma. Ready for the next season, the young wrestler had to forfeit two matches due to injury. She placed sixth in the 50kg class at the TMU Open. Currently, she is ranked fourth at 50kg for USports rankings.
Overall, Algoma is ranked 9th in USports Wrestling rankings.
