Lake Superior State women’s golf played their way into fourth place through the opening round at the Battle in Belmont tournament held at Blythefield Country Club, hosted by Davenport University.
The Lakers combined for a first round score of 339 on Monday and trail fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rivals Wayne State by nine strokes for third place. All five individual LSSU golfers also ranked in the top-25 individually.
Junior Taylor Trzasko turned in an opening round score of 80 (+8) to tie for seventh individually. Also in the top-20, sophomore Tatiana Hulan shot an 84 (+12) on Monday to tie for 17th.
Rounding out the Lakers, Sammie Baldwin tied for 22nd with an 87, followed by Hailey Watkins (88) in 24th and Reanna Barth (89) tied for 25th overall.
The Battle in Belmont concludes Tuesday October 18th.
