Thunderbirds Add Heinrich, Miller and Schuch to NOJHL 2017/18 Roster

The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Soo Thunderbirds have added three new faces to their 2017 – 2018 junior ‘A’ roster with Austin Heinrich, Brendan Miller and Eric Schuch coming to Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.

17 year old Heinrich played forward and defense for the Eastern AAA Midget Hockey League York Simcoe Express in 2016 – 2017. The 6’2” and 190 lbs Barrie, Ontario native had six assists in 40 regular season games along with tallying ten minutes in penalties. Heinrich also saw action in six games with the Ontario Junior Hockey League Aurora Tigers where Austin added one assist to his 2016 – 2017 season total.

The 17 year old Barrie native was drafted 73rd overall in the fourth round in 2017 in the U18 Priority Selection Draft by the Ontario Hockey League’s Mississauga Steelheads.

19 year old Brendan Miller played for the Soo AAA U18 Indians from 2014 – 2017 in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan where the 6’1” and 200 lbs forward sank 45 goals and contributed on 67 assists in 165 regular season games along with accumulating 94 minutes in penalties with the U18 Indians. In the 2017 NA3HL Draft Miller was selected by the Willmar Warhawks in the 4th round 159th overall.

Goaltender Schuch comes to Sault Ste Marie for the fall of 2017 after playing for the Fox Motors U18 of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The 18 year old Holland Michigan saw action between the pipes in 18 regular season match – ups where finished the 2016 – 2017 season with a goals against average of 2.99 and a save percentage of .888.

The 5’11” and 180 lbs netminder played one game in 2015 – 2016 and one in 2016 – 2017 with the Odessa Jackalopes of the North American Hockey League.
