After the Soo Thunderbirds moved captain Ryan Mulligan to the Blind River Beavers on December 27th, the first place west division leaders named 18 year old second year forward Noah Solinger their next player to don the ‘C’ on the Thunderbird jersey.
The Chatsworth, Ontario native has appeared in 33 games so far in the 2017 – 2018 season with tallying eight goals and adding 20 assists along with accumulating 26 minutes in penalties. In his first season with the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Thunderbirds, the 6’0” and 180 lbs forward had eight goals and 14 helpers in 48 regular season match – ups in the Soo.
Thunderbird coach John Parco told Saultsports that “Noah Solinger is intelligent, hard working kid. He is also a very good person. We are proud to have him as our next captain of the Thunderbirds.”
“I think it’s a real honour to be named captain of the thunderbirds. I think we have a really good group of guys on our team this year and we’ve proven that we’re a contender in the league this season. As the next captain I can offer a hardworking attitude and I try to be someone who leads by example on the ice” said Solinger.
