Soo Night Hawks Baseball Wins Rudyard Invitational

The Soo Night Hawks baseball team continued its successful start to the season by winning the Rudyard Invitational baseball tournament on Saturday May 7th .  The Night Hawks opened the tournament with an extra innings 6 – 4 victory over Harbor Springs and then beat host Rudyard 16 to 6 to finish the round robin tournament 2 and 0 and take home the championship.

In the Opener vs. Harbor Springs Braedon Whalen had a strong starting performance going 5 2/3 innings while allowing just four runs. Brennan Mitchell picked up the victory with a strong 11/3 of relief allowing no runs. Offensively the team was led by Braedon Whalen who went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI’s.

Also contributing hits in the victory were Brennan Mitchell, Dylan Sewell, Brandon Boyer, and Joe Maclean.

In game two Tyler Sayers picked up the victory over host Rudyard with three strong innings allowing three runs. Offensively Braedon Whalen led the way with four runs batted in. Two hit performers were Jarrid Smith, Braedon Whalen, Noah Pearce, Cole Wright, and Noah Belec. Also contributing hits were Zach Duchesne, Noah O’Brien, and Stephen Bos.

Earlier in the week the Night Hawks had a tournament warm up game in Rudyard on Wednesday May 4th . Picking up the victory in that game was Brennan Mitchell who threw two shutout innings, picking up the save in relief with three innings of one run ball was Stephen Bos. Offensively the team was led by Brennan Mitchell, Braedon Whalen, and Stephen Bos all scoring four times. Whalen also contributed four RBI’s. Picking up hits in the victory were Braedon Whalen, Brennan Mitchell, Tyler Sayers, Dylan Sewell, Noah Pearce, and Joe Maclean.

With the three victories this week the Night Hawks season record now stands at 6 -1.
