On September 22nd under the lights at Superior Heights, the (2 – 0) Korah Colts took to the turf to face the (2 – 0) Superior Heights Steelhawks in senior Sault Ste Marie High School Football League action with the winner taking control at the top of the senior standings.
Korah’s Caleb Patteri led the offence with 32 carries for a total of 159 yards in the Colts 19 – 9 win with one of two touchdowns over the Steelhawks along with Darian Belkosky carrying the ball on ten opportunites for 72 yards for Korah in their third win of week three of the season.
Patteri’s first touchdown came in the first quarter to give the Colts a 7 – 0 lead with Andrew Grawbarger finding the uprights for the extra point. Korah added another two with a safety later in the quarter to bring their lead to 9 – 0. In the third quarter, Superior Heights earned a single from punter Maverick Hill. Adding the lead, Grawbarger kicks a 16 yard field goal to increase the Colts lead to 12 – 1. After a long Superior Heights drive, Patteri carried the ball for his second major of the game with a five yard run to bring the lead to 19 – 1. Mitchell DellaVedova catches a 32 yard touchdown pass from Superior Heights quarterback Ethan Johnson in the fourth. Matt Johnson earns two more points with a Steelhawk two point conversion.
Colts quarterback was held to only three passing attempts in Korah’s 19 – 9 win over the Steelhawks and finished with one interception. Nik Gervais had a total of 35 yards on seven carries while on defence Tyler Albert finished with three solo tackles along with Tyler Legros catching a interception for the Colts. Carrying the ball eight times was Elisha Ishimwe for Superior Heights along with Ethan Johnson completing nine passes on 19 attempts for a total of 105 yards that included one touchdown pass and one interception. Also on offence, DellaVedova caught the ball twice and ran for 64 yards while Taylor Holub also had two Steelhawk catches for the Steelhawks totaling 30 yards. Superior Heights offence was led by Geryd Lesage for eight solo tackles and four assisted tackles. Joe Rosso finished week three with seven solos and two assists in the Steelhawks loss. Superior Heights Joe Trudeau had six solos and two assisted tackles in the loss.
In junior action, the Superior Heights fell to the Colts in a 35 – 7 loss on Friday evening.
