Saultite Brianna Scarfone Commits to Golden Shield Soccer

Sault Ste Marie native Brianna Scarfone will be heading to Sudbury, Ontario for the fall of 2017 to begin the Medical Radiation Technology program at Cambrian College and has committed to the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Golden Shield Women’s soccer program.

Saultsports sat down with Brianna and discussed the St. Mary’s Knight grade 12 student – athlete heading to the Nickel City to continue her soccer career while attending Cambrian College.

SS: How long have you been playing soccer?
BS: I have been playing soccer for as long as I can remember – since I was a timbit.

SS: When did you first know you wanted to play collegiately?
BS: It has always been a dream of mine to play varsity soccer as well as furthering my academics.

SS: What made you pick Cambrian College?
BS: Several reasons; close to home, great coaching staff, program I wanted, hosting nationals for soccer this year.

SS: What do you want to major in?
BS: My final goal is to complete the Medical Radiation Technology program.

SS: When did Cambrian College start showing interest in you?
BS: Grade 11.

SS: What is your favourite part about playing soccer?
BS: My favourite part is working as a team. Teamwork has always been so important to me. You win and lose as a team.

SS: What are your goals this season?
BS: My goal this season is to stay focused. I know its going to be a huge adjustment so keep staying strong and keeping my head on straight. Also, to stay as fit as possible and balance soccer and school as best as possible.

SS: What are your interests and hobbies?
BS: High school sports, coaching the youth, and being with my friends.

SS: What have been some of the highlights of your career?
BS: OFSAA back to back years, U21 league champs with Sudbury

SS: Where are you playing right now?
BS: U21 Provincial Elite League

SS: How will you balance your schedule between soccer and school?
BS: Staying organized

SS: What is your favourite soccer memory at St Mary’s?
BS: Going to OFSAA two years in a row, being city and league champions for two years, and playing alongside my best friends.
