Sault Figure Skating Club Announces Fall 2015 Skating Programs

SFSCThe Sault Figure Skating Club has announce their registration dates for their CanSkate, Pre – CanSkate and CanPowerSkate programs for the fall of 2015.

CanSkate – 2015 Fall School
Registration for Fall School (Main Lobby Essar Centre)
Tuesday August 25th – 6:30 p.m – 7:30 p.m

Fall School will be five weeks long from Tuesday September 8th until October 6th 6:30 p.m – 7:30 p.m

CanSkate program is based on Sport Canada’s long term athlete development (LTAD) principles. Exciting new features include a fresh new look, new and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing stronger basic skills and developing them faster. But there’s more! The a tested and proven new curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing stronger basic skills and developing them faster. But there’s more! The new program also includes specific skills that pertain to hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating. The result is a dynamic new program that prepares all skaters for virtually every ice sport.

CanSkate – Winter School and Pre-CanSkate (Saturday’s)
Winter School will being on:
Tuesday October 13th from 6:30 p.m – 7:30 p.m at the Essar Centre
Thursday October 15th from 7:00 p.m – 8:00 p.m at the McMeeken Arena
Saturday October 17 from 1:00 p.m – 2:00 p.m at the Essar Centre (Pre-CanSkate)

Registration information will be available in September 2015

CanPowerSkate for Winter School
1st Session – 8 weeks in length. Registration information will be available in September 2015

Tuesday October 13th from 6:30 p.m – 7:30 p.m at the Essar Centre
Thursday October 19th from 7:00 p.m – 8:00 p.m at the McMeeken Arena

2nd Session – 8 weeks in length will begin in mid – December 2015

CanPowerSkate’s is designed for young skaters, approximately four to six years of age who can stand up on skates and move forward (shuffle, walk or glide) who may not be ready for CanPowerSkate Level 1. Pre-Power helps develop basic skating abilities in a power skating-specific environment, including balance skills, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning and agility skills. The curriculum is presented in three progressive levels complete with its own awards to encourage participation and motivate skaters. Pre-Power has been designed to run concurrently with CanSkate sessions.
