The second season for the Sault Bobcat Select U14 team is just around the corner with the Bobcats will once again play in the Eastern Upper Peninsula Football League along six other teams in Michigan from Rudyard, Engadine, Detour, Cederville, Pickford and Brimley. The 2017 fall season will kick – off with the Sault heading to Rudyard, Michigan to face the Bulldogs.
Try – out for this season’s Bobcats will take place the week of August 14th. More information available starting Monday July 3rd underneath the tent at Sault Minor Football League games. The Bobcat football program is for players for 14 and under.
The Sault Bobcats Selects is a team of players going into grade 6 through to grade 8. The team will be chosen after our tryouts which will be held the week of the 14th of August (Details to come). Coaches will select players that are team first players, and are there to improve their game and compete at a higher level. We are hoping to select 20 – 22 players for the Bobcats. Once the team is chosen we will continue to practice 2 – 3 times a week to prepare for our first game August 26th.
The Bobcats will wear navy and gold this season with the program playing under the SAFA (Sault Amateur Football Ass0ciation umbrella and using the Sabercats uniforms.
Joining head coach Ross Viotto for the 2017 coaching staff will be Scott Gray (Defensive Coordinator), Greg Matheson (Offensive Line), Phil Puchetti (Linebackers) and Jeremy Sprague (Defensive Assistant).
“This league gives kids that want to continue to develop their skills and passion for football by continuing to practise and play in a competitive Michigan league. We have talented kids in the Sault and there are opportunities at the next level for kids that want to work hard and put in the time” said president/head coach Ross Viotto.
