Sabercats Head to Peterbourgh to Meet the Wolverines

After a forfeit win to the Vaughan Rebels in the OFC varsity quarter – finals, the varsity Sault Sabercats suited up for their first ever OFC post – season game when they hit the road to meet the Huronia Stallions in Barrie on July 23rd in a 5:00 p.m kick – off. The Sabercats fell to the Stallions in Sault Ste Marie on June 3rd in week two action 35 – 15.

Nick Fowler and Greg Caruso had the touchdowns in the Sabercats 14 – 10 win on Saturday afternoon with Fowler’s touchdown coming on a 30 yard interception run. Veteran Sabercat Nick Dipasquale caught a Huronia interception and carried the ball for 75 yards to give Caruso an opportunity to score the Sault other major on a 12 yard run into the Stallions end zone.

“Our defence was outstanding today, they proved why they are one of the best defences in the league. Everyone was flying to the ball and making plays. Our offence struggled today but came up with a big score when we needed it the most” said varsity head coach Matt Premo.

The Sabercats will now head to Peterbourgh on July 29th to meet the Wolverines in the OFC varsity final. The Sault had fell 35 – 13 in the season opener to the Wolverines on May 27th.
