After a 57 – 21 loss in week one of the 2017 OFC Football at home in Sault Ste Marie, the (0 – 1) junior Sault Sabercats returned to the field for their second regular season match – up at home against the (1 – 0) Huronia Stallions at Superior Heights on Saturday June 3rd.
At 10:40 of the opening quarter Mitchell DellaVedova carries the ball 25 yards to give the Sabercats a 6 – 0 lead, the Sault’s attempt for two points was unsuccessful. After catching a 12 yard pas from Sabercat quarterback Jordan Robinson Wright, Mitchell DellaVedova runs for a 55 yard touchdown at 4:02 of the first quarter to bring the lead to 14 – 1. Scoring his third major of the contest with a 85 yard run at 2:14 of the quarter was Mitchell DellaVedova to increase the hosts lead to 20 – 1. Marc Aceti catches a 20 yard pass from Robinson – Wright to run for 35 yards to add to the Sabercats lead to give the Sault a 26 – 1 lead.
Six minutes into the second quarter, Robinson – Wright finds Matt Jackson in the Stallion end zone for the Sabercats fifth touchdown of the game. Tyson Froy catches a pass for the Sabercats for an extra two to give the Sault a 34 – 1 lead. The Stallions carried the ball for 20 yards for Huronia’s lone touchdown of the game. Dellavedova runs the ball 56 yards for the Sabercats at 1:25 of the third quarter to add to the Sault’s lead. Robinson – Wright ran the ball into Huronia’s end zone for the final touchdown on a 12 yard carry to give the Sabercats their first win of the season.
Sabercat Dellavedova carried the ball 13 times for a total of 206 yards with five Sault touchdowns while Nick Pagnotta rushed the ball on six carries for 97 yards on offence. Robinson – Wright completed the 48 – 8 win with 308 yards of passing.

The Sabercats will now head out on the road for their first away match – up on June 11th against the (0 – 3) Vaughan Rebels in a 2:00 p.m kick – off.
