Coming off a 35 – 13 loss in week one to the Peterborough Wolverines, the (0 – 1) Sault Sabercats hit the field on June 3rd in their second game of the 2017 season against the (1 – 0) Huronia Stallions in Sault Ste Marie at Superior Heights in OFC Football Varsity action.
At 5:52 of the first quarter, quarterback Ryan Yost carries the ball five yards for the Sabercats opening touchdown to give the Sault a 9 – 2 lead. With a 21 yard run, running back Zach Kuhn evens the game 9 – 9 at the 2:03 mark of the second quarter. Stallion quarterback Justin Winn finds wide receiver Jeremy Hussey with a 35 yard pass. Hussey runs the ball into the Sabercat end zone on a 21 yard carry to increase Huronia’s lead to 16 – 9 at 14:29 of the fourth quarter.
Scoring his second running touchdown on a 16 yard carry at 6:15 of the final quarter, quarterback Yost closes the gap to one for the Sault, the Sabercat attempt for two was unsuccessful. With the clocking ticking down with 29.6 seconds left in the game, Kuhn cements the Stallions lead to give Huronia a 23 – 13 win on a four yard carry.
Sabercat Greg Caruso led the offence with a total of 82 yards on catches while Issac Belsito carried the ball twice for 31 yards while on defence, Nick Fowler had four solo and six assisted tackles. Jacob Fecteau and Darian Belkosky contributed with two solo and five assisted tackles each along with Jared Strachan catching a Stallion Justin Winn interception.

The Sault will travel to Vaughan on June 11th to face the (0 – 3) Rebels in a 4:00 p.m kick – off at York University.
