On February 8th at the John Rhodes Centre in an afternoon matinee, the second place (8-3-1-5) Superior Heights Steelhawks opened the 2018 post – season against the third place (7-9-0-1) Korah Colts in game one of the best of three series in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action.
Korah’s Marc Aceti fires the opening goal at 5:29 of the first behind Steelhawk goaltender Jacob Pattersen to give the Colts a 1 – 0 lead with Tristen O’Flynn and Noah Naccarato adding the assists on Aceti’s goal. With the Colts on a power play 52 seconds into the middle stanza for Korah’s second goal to bring the lead to 2 – 0 on O’Flynn’s goal. Nik Gervasi and Noah Sehovic drew the contributors on O’Flynn’s power play marker. With 4:48 remaining in the second, O’Flynn’s scores his second of the contest to give Korah a 3 – 0 shutout win. Gervais and Naccarato had the helpers on O’Flynn’s second power play goal of the game for the Colts. Colton Rooney registered his first shutout of the 2018 high school hockey post – season.
Game two of the best of three series will take place on February 11th at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste Marie in an 8:00 p.m puck drop.
