Lake Superior State men’s golf moved up into a tie for 14th place on Tuesday October 11th at the Division II Midwest Regional held at Fox Run Golf Club.
The Lakers posted consecutive team scores of 313 to finish with a combined 626 and moved into four-way tie with Trevecca Nazarene, Malone and McKendree University.
Jason Kerr, a junior from Pattaya, Thailand, turned in the top individual score for LSSU, tying for 37th among the 130-player field. Kerr improved on his first round score of 80 (+8) with an impressive two-over-par (74) during Tuesday’s second round.
Senior Joe Ericson led the Lakers during Monday’s opening round with a 74 (+2) and was tied for 16th, but dropped to a tie for 51st after posting an 82 on Tuesday.
Gavin MacIver rounded out the Lakers to reach the top-60 with a two-day total of 82-75—157 and tied for 57th.
Rounding out the Laker lineup, Zach Carson (79-83—162) and Mitchell Toth (80-82—162) tied for 91st overall.
Fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference members Ferris State took the team title with a 286-291—577, while Missouri- St. Louis golfer Markus Lindberg claimed the individual title with a 69-71—141 (-4).
The Midwest Regional at Fox Run G.C. marks the end of the fall slate for the Lakers. Men’s golf resumes in the spring, beginning with the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitational at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Lexington, Kentucky.
