At the John Rhodes Centre in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario on January 18th, the third place (4-8-0-1) Korah Colts took on the fourth place (2-12-0-1) Central Algoma Huskies in a regular season Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League match – up.
Korah’s Noah Sehovic finds the back of Huskie netminder Justin Shaw’s net 7:48 into the second period to give the Colts a 1 – 0 lead with Nik Grevais and Andrew Jalak adding the assists on Sehovic’s shorthanded marker. Dante Campagna and Grevais set up the Colts second of the contest at 5:07 of the period on Joe Beaupre’s goal to bring the lead to 2 – 0. With 27 seconds remaining in the period, Korah forward Noah Naccarato sinks the third for the Colts with a power play goal. Gervais had the helper on Naccarato’s power play goal to send the Colts into the second intermission up 3 – 0. Scoring his second of the game and adding to the lead was Korah’s Naccarato at 9:51 of the third with a pass from Jalak to increase the lead to 4 – 0.
Ryan Fleming fires a pass to Tyler Albert of the Colts at the 6:33 mark of the period to give Korah a 5 – 0 lead. Sinking the lone goal shorthanded for Central Algoma was Issac Wildman with a Huskie unassisted goal at 5:38 of the period. With 51 seconds left the game, Gervais registers his fourth point of the game with the Colts sixth of the game to give Korah a 6 – 1 win. Naccarato and Albert had the contributors on Gervais second of the game.
Next up for the Colts will be the second place Superior Heights Steelhawks on January 21st at the Essar Centre in a 6:30 p.m puck drop. The Huskies will not return to action until after the high school exam break with a game on February 4th in a 6:00 p.m match – up against the first place St. Mary’s Knights at the John Rhodes Centre.
