In Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey action, the St. Mary’s Knights met the CASS Huskies on November 13th at the John Rhodes Centre in week two of the 2017 – 2018 hockey season.
Two seconds past the halfway mark of the opening period, Knight Josh Mannarino finds the back of Huskie goaltender Justin Shaw to give St. Mary’s a 1 – 0 lead with Cole Delarosbil and Nate Medaglia drawing the contributors on Mannarino’s goal. At 13:55 of the middle stanza, Justin Ryyppo sends a pass to Mannarino to bring the lead to 2 – 0 for the Knights. With the Knights shorthanded, Noah Brule adds St. Mary’s lead at 8:31 of the second with Noah Belec setting up Brule’s shorthanded marker. At 7:36 of the period, Mannarino registers his third point of the goal on a Medaglia goal to increase the lead to 4 – 0 for St. Mary’s.
Scoring his third and notching a hat trick was Josh Mannarino at 7:24 of the second with Marcus Stefano adding the helper on Mannarino’s goal. Marcus King sinks the Huskies lone goal of the game 12:36 into the third on a unassisted shorthanded goal. With 5:47 left in the game, Brule gives the Knights a 5 – 1 win over CASS with Ryyppo and Noah Thomson contributing on Brule’s second of the contest. Netminder Ryan Cook earned the win between the pipes for the Knights on Monday afternoon.
Two more games will round out week two of the 2017 – 2018 season with the Steelhawks meeting the Korah Colts at the John Rhodes Centre for a 3:30 p.m puck drop on November 16th while the Knights head to Thessalon to take on the CASS Huskies in a 8:00 p.m start on November 17th.
