Knights Return From Nation’s Capital With a Silver in High School Hockey Action

On November 21st in the nation’s capital at the 12th Annual Captial High School Hockey Tournament, the (3-0) St. Mary’s Knights faced the (3-0) Rockland, Ontario (3-0) L’Escale Cougars in the gold medal game on Tuesday afternoon.

In round robin, the Knights won their first two games with a 3 – 1win over the Oakville, Ontario’s Abbey Park Eagles and an 8 – 0 shutout win over the Glenlawn Lions from Winnipeg, Manitoba on day one while skating to a 1 – 1 tie to the hosts, Holy Trinity Tornadoes in the final game of round robin on Tuesday morning in Ottawa.

St. Mary’s Tyler Sayer sank the lone goal for the Knights in their gold medal game 3 – 1 loss with Josh Mannarino adding the contributor on Sayers’ goal. Ryan Cook had the goaltending duties for St. Mary’s in the final.

The (2-1) will return to action on Thursday afternoon in a 3:30 p.m Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League start against the (2-0-0-1) Korah Colts at the John Rhodes Centre.
