Two winless high school teams took to the field at Superior Heights looking for their first win of the 2017 Sault Ste Marie High School Football Senior League with the White Pines Wolverines facing the St. Mary’s Knights on September 21st in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.
Rushing for a total of 281 yards with a total of 30 carries, Knight Jack Ayotte carried the ball for two touchdowns with five and eight yard majors. With a ten yard rush, St. Mary’s Carter Harrison ran into the Wolverines endzone on a ten yard rush. With quarterback Nick Fowler and Thomas Cormier each scoring a touchdown each on one yard carries, the Knights earned their first win of the 2017 season with a 42 – 0 win over White Pines. Cody Tangi caught the other touchdown of a five yard pass from Fowler while St. Mary’s Angelo Carchidi kicked six converts in the win.
With only 24 players dressed for the Wolverines including five from the junior squad, Mitch Dubreuil led White Pines offence with four receptions for a total of 43 yards along with quarterback Kendrick Saari passing for 40 yards with six completions on 11 attempts. Wolverine Kolton Boissoneau had eight solo tackles, one assisted tackle and one reception on Thursday evening while Noah Tarni finished week three with five solos and two assists in the Wolverines third straight loss.

The Knights take on the Superior Heights Steelhawks on September 28th while the Wolverines meet the Korah Colts on September 29th. Both games will take place at Superior Heights in 7:30 p.m starts respectively.
