Over 650 swimmers representing 78 teams from Ontario represented at the 2015 Swim Ontario summer festival at the Canada Games Complex, in London, Ontario over the June 26th – 28th weekend with 12 year old SSMAC competitor Raili Kary placed in her two best events, the 100 and 200 meter backstroke finishing seventh and sixth respectively in lifetime personal best times.
Raili was also able to set lifetime personal best times in the 200 meter Indivdual medley (IM) and the 200 meter freestyle, but did not advance to the top eight in those events.
Also competing at Summer festivals for the first time was eleven year old SSMAC competitor, Logan Belanger. Logan had an impressive start, finishing sixth in the 100 meter breastroke, lowering her previous personal best time by over 5 seconds. Belanger was able to set a personal best time in one other event the 50 freestyle, however did not place in the top eight.
Rounding out the SSMAC performers was 12 year old Emma Reid. Emma lowered her 100 butterfly and her 200 IM time by a solid 5 seconds, however did not advance to the top eight in her events.
SSMAC swimmers will be in competition over the July 3rd – July 5th weekend at the 2015 Swim Ontario Provincial Age Group Championships, hosted by Nepean Barracudas Swim Club at the Nepean Sports complex.
This will be SSMAC’s final meet of the season, with the final four day event acting as a wrap-up for a very successful 2014 – 2015 competitive season.
