Jr Sabercats Secure OFC First Round Bye with Win Over Jr Argos

The second place (3 – 2) junior Sault Sabercats headed into Toronto, Ontario to face the fifth place (1 – 3 – 1) Jr Argos on July 9th in OFC Football north division action. With a win, the Sabercats would earn second place and a berth into the 2017 OFC post – season.

In the 42 – 8 win over the Jr Argos, Nick Pagnotta caught two touchdown passes from Jordan Robinson Wright along with Matt Jackson and Mitch Dellavedova receiving one touchdown pass each from Robinson Wright on Sunday afternoon in the Sault’s dominating win. Ronan Derbowka carried the ball into Toronto’s end zone for a touchdown while Robinson Wright had one more touchdown for Sault.

Dellavedova and Jordan Grondin had one two point conversion catches from Robinson Wright with the Sabercat quarterback running the ball himself across the end zone line for the other two points.

Junior coach Steve Nott told Saultsports that “Yesterdays game was an excellent win for our team. It secured second place in our conference, a first round bye and a home playoff game in the second round of the playoffs. It was a total team effort as many kids stepped up with big plays, and the entire team had an opportunity to contribute to the final outcome.”
