While sitting in the stands on October 26th watching the Soo Greyhounds and the Sarnia Sting at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste Marie, Sault Ste Marie’s hometown hockey goaltending hockey star, Marty Turco was taking time out of watching the game to talk to the Bantam Premiere Landscaping Predators on how their season was going.  With Marty having no contract yet with the season almost a month into the regular season.  Marty has also been on the ice helping out the Soo Junior Greyhounds Atom team with their goaltending while he is waiting. This is the first fall that Turco and his wife have spent in Sault Ste Marie since his two daughters, Hailey and Katelyn and one son, Finley have been born. To date, in this 2011-2012 NHL season, 30 games have been started by backup goaltenders and no word. He has played professionally with the Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks. Marty Turco is a 36-year-old goalie, about a half decade removed from being one of the best in the league. He played in just over 20 games with Chicago Blackhawks during the 2010/2011 season. Turco, who has been an analyst for NHL Network occasionally this season. Because of his puckhandling prowess, Canadian hockey personality Don Cherry named Turco: 'the smartest goalie in the NHL'. So why is Marty still waiting for an offer from NHL teams with 538 regular season and 47 playoff games behind the mask.
