"Thursday Night Thunder" returns to the 1/3 mile asphalt oval this coming Thursday, August 23rd when the green flag drops on another action-packed night at Laird International Raceway. Richmond Gear will be the evening's presenting sponsor through the prestigious Contingency Connection LIR is a proud member of in 2012. Six lucky drivers will be presented with a gift pack valued at $100 courtesy of Richmond. "Winners Run Richmond". LIR encourages fans to take advantage of this week's special where a Family of 5 (Two adults and up to 3 children 11 & Under) will be admitted for just $20! You can't beat that for affordable entertainment. The track encourages everyone to show up early as immediately following qualifying Bus Rides will take place around the 1/3 mile and through the pits until race time. (No beat the clock specials on grandstand admission or concession items will be applicable on this night). On the track, all six divisions of your local weekly racing divisions will take part in the show featuring the Twisted Toyz Motorsports Super Late Models, Caswell Concrete Products Outlaw Modifieds, LIR Modifieds, Maitland Motors Factory Stocks, KM Construction Xtreme Fours and Leisure Living Factory Fours PLUS School Bus Racing will conclude the evening. If you missed the first school bus race of the year, be sure you aren't left out this time around. Time trials being at 6 p.m. with racing to follow at 7 p.m. LIR will adhere to their strict intermission policy that has seen intermission average 25 minutes or less this summer. Entering Week 8, Terry McClelland leads the Twisted Toyz Motorsports Super Late Model field with a slim 10-point advantage over Paul McLean (#10). The pair of Sault Ste. Marie, ON residents enter the week with one feature win each under their belt in 2012 for the previous track champions. Keith King (#91) paces the Caswell Concrete Products Outlaw Modified division after a week off last week. To-date four different feature winners have found Victory Lane over the past four weeks. Veteran pilot Rick Ellis (#5) has led the LIR Modifieds since Week 1 of the season and currently enjoys a 19-point lead atop the standings. Meanwhile Nick Kozak (#00) is coming off back-to-back feature wins and will try for the three-peat this Thursday. 2010 Maitland Motors Factory Stock Track Champion Kyle Jarrett (#27) has enjoyed 4 feature wins on the year to go along with his 51-point lead over defending champion Jamie Fox (#51) while the W5 of Jason Praysner has put on a late season surge. In the KM Construction Xtreme Fours, inaugural champion Jakob Bourdage (#98) stares at a mere 20-point lead over "Kid Dynamite" Dustin Jackson (#61) with Daniel Bibeau (#08) closeby. Meanwhile Taylor Crockford (#00) has the slimmest 1-point lead over Jack Lannigan (#42) in the Leisure Living Factory Four Division.
