High School Wrestling Champions Crowned at Korah

The Sault Ste. Marie high school city championships wrapped up Wednesday at Korah Collegiate.

Host team, Korah Collegiate won a hotly contested girls team title, on the strength of gold medals from Kaitlyn Overland, Skyler Perron and Hailey Moskal.

On the boys side the St. Marys Knights captured their first city championship since the mid 1990’s. The Knights were led by gold medals from Jordan Campioni, Brett Warminghton, Nathan Campbell, Ben Kovacs and and Logan Hunter.

St Marys, was also winner of co-ed/combined team championship, with Korah a close second and Superior Heights placing third.

Local teams to will head to Sudbury to compete in the NOSSA Championships on February 16th.  The top two placers from each weight class from NOSSA will then move on to the OFSAA Championships in Brampton, ON on March 1st – 3rd.
