Hawks Take a Bite Out of Women Cougars in OCAA Basketball Action

In women’s 2017 – 2018 Ontario Collegiate College Association Basketball action, the Sault College Cougars hit the hardcourt on November 3rd and 4th in Toronto, Ontario against their opponents, the Humber Hawks. The Cougars fell to the Conestoga Condors in the season opener in Sault Ste Marie on October 26th and 27th.

Third year MacKenize Mazzuca (Early Childhood Educator/Sault Ste Marie, ON) led Sault College with nine points in the Cougars 93 – 22 loss to Humber. Cassidy Sabourin (2nd Season/ Fish & Wildlife/Timmins, ON) sank five points (5 rebounds) in the loss with Shadow Verdoni (1st Season/ SSW-Native/Sault Ste Marie, ON) adding 4 points (1 rebound) for Sault College on Saturday afternoon.

In their second game of the weekend in Toronto, Sault College was held to 19 points in the Cougars 109 – 19 loss to the Hawks. Cassidy Sabourin and Mercedes Ryan (2nd Season/ Early Childhood Educator/Goulais River, ON) combined for ten points with five points each against Humber. Sabourin had five rebounds and one assist along with Ryan adding seven rebounds and three assists for the Cougars. Dryden, Ontario native Alexandra Cooper (1st Season/ Forestry Technician) added three points (3 rebounds/1 assist) for Sault College.

The ninth place (0-4) Cougars will meet the (1-2) St. Clair Saints in Windsor, Ontario on November 11th and 12th in OCAA action.
