With their third game in four days on road days in an eastern Ontario road swing, the first place west division (22-3-2) Soo Greyhounds hit the ice at TD Place in the nation’s capital against the third place (14-12-1-1) Ottawa 67’s in Ontario Hockey League action. The Greyhounds are coming off win’s Peterborough and Kingston in the first two stops of Soo’s eastern Ontario road trip.
From the top of the circle in the 67’s offensive end, Tim Gettinger sinks the Soo’s opening goal 14:11 into the first with Anthony DeMeo and Hayden Verbeek adding the assists on Gettinger’s 15th on the season. Barrett Hayton gives the Soo a 2 – 0 with his 11th of the season with Conor Timmins and Morgan Frost registering the helpers on Hayton’s power play goal at 11:04 of the second period. Jack Kopacka adds to his season total with his 16th of the season with the Soo’s third of the game at 12:34 of the period with Timmins and Hayton drawing the contributors on Kopacka’s goal. Giving the Greyhounds a 4 – 0 win was the Soo’s Boris Katchouk with his 23rd of the season at 13:38, Frost had the lone helper on Katchouk’s goal. With making 31 saves in the Soo’s 4 – 0 win, Tyler Johnson earns his second shutout of the 2017 – 2018 season.
The Greyhounds will now return to Sault Ste Marie with six points for a December 6th match – up against the Sarnia Sting at the Essar Centre in a 7:07 p.m start.
