Greyhounds Return Home from Flint with 3-1 Series Lead

The Soo Greyhounds hit the ice in Flint, Michigan for game four of a west division quarter – final meeting with a 2 – 1 lead over the Flint Firebirds in Ontario Hockey League post – season action on March 29th.

Morgan Frost fired the opening goal on his first of the 2017 play – offs for the Soo 9:34 into the game to give Greyhounds a 1 – 0 lead with Jack Kopacka and Conor Timmins drawing the contributors on Frost’s power play marker. Otto Makinen sinks the visitors second of the contest at 13:46 of first with Zach Senyshyn and Mac Hollowell adding the helpers on Makinen’s first of the post – season. Registering his fourth of the play – offs was Greyhound Boris Katchouk to bring the Soo’s lead to 3 – 0. Blake Speers and Bobby MacIntyre drew the assists on Katchouk’s goal 17 seconds into the middle stanza.

At 2:35 of the period, David Miller notches his first of the post – season to increase the Soo’s lead to 4 – 0 with Hayden Verbeek and Kopacka setting up Miller’s goal. Jacob Collins and Jalen Smereck had the helpers on the Firebird Everett Clark’s goal at 6:58 of the period to bring Flint within three. MacIntrye finds the back of the Firebirds net for his first of the play – offs and the Greyhounds fifth of the game 4:50 into the third. With Noah Carroll in the penalty box for cross checking at 8:34 of the final period, Kole Sherwood closes the gap to three with a Firebird power play marker with Nicholas Caamano and Ty Dellandrea adding the contributors. Greyhound netminder Joseph Raaymakers turned away 28 of 30 shots in the Soo’s 5 – 2 win over the Firebirds.

The Greyhounds will return to Sault Ste Marie for a game five match – up on Friday March 31st in a 7:07 p.m with a 3 – 1 best of seven series lead over the Flint Firebirds.
