Greyhounds Fall 3-2 in Semifinal Series with Loss to Attack

After returning from Owen Sound with two straight losses to the Attack and even at 2 – 2 in a west division semi – final, the Soo Greyhounds hit the ice on April 14th in game five against the Attack at the Essar Centre in Ontario Hockey League action.

6:07 into the opening period, Owen Sound’s Nick Suzuki fires a pass to Markus Phillips to give the Attack a 1 – 0 lead. Matt Schmalz and Jacob Friend set up Chase Campbell at 14:54 of the first to bring the visitors a 2 – 0 lead for the Attack. With 1:19 left in the period, Kevin Hancock sends the Attack into the first intermission with a 3 – 0 lead with an assist from Suzuki. 38 seconds into the middle stanza, Jack Kopacka sinks his fifth of the post – season to bring the Greyhounds within three. Colton White and Conor Timmins had the contributors on Kopacka’s goal.

Boris Katchouk pulls the Soo within one 23 seconds into the final period for his eight of the play – offs with Katchouk and captain Blake Speers drawing the helpers on Katchouk’s goal. Petru Palmu scores Owen Sounds fourth of the game to the Attack a 4 – 2 lead with Campbell and Matt Struthers notching the assists at 17:34 of the period. With 1:29 left in the game, Greyhound Zach Senyshyn fires a shot from the blueline for his fourth of the 2017 post – season with Frost and Timmins adding the helpers. Soo goaltender Joesph Raaymakers turned away 30 of 24 shots in the Greyhounds 4 3 loss in Sault Ste Marie.

Game six of the best of seven series returns to Owen Sound with the Attack up 3 – 2 in the series on Sunday April 16th in a 6:00 p.m puck drop.
