Gavey Sinks Overtime Goal to Give Knights Win Over Steelhawks

On December 4th at the John Rhodes Centre, the first place (6-1) St. Mary’s Knights took on the second place (4-1-1) Superior Heights Steelhawks in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action.

In a scoreless three periods, the Steelhaeks and Knights needed overtime to determine the outcome. At 3:03 of overtime, St. Mary’s Josh Gavey sank the overtime winner to give the Knights a 1 – 0 win. Carter Magee Marenger and Josh Mannarino drew the assists on Gavey’s goal.

“Our goaltender gave us a chance to win. That’s all you can ask for. Holding St Mary’s to 1 goal is an accomplishment that we need to build off” said Superior Heights coach Noah Rushon.

The Knights will be action in action on December 11th in high school hockey action when they meet the Steelhawks in a 3:30 p.m puck drop at the John Rhodes Centre.
