Eagles Clip the Canadians at the Pullar in NOJHL Action

On January 13th in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan at the Pullar Stadium, the (21-14-1) fourth place Soo Eagles were looking for their first win of the 2017 – 2018 season against the (22-11-1-2) third place Rayside Balfour Canadians. The Eagles are 0 – 5 when facing the Canadians in North Ontario Junior Hockey League west division action so far in the 2017 – 2018 season.

Rayside Balfour’s Kyle Liinamaa finds the back of Eagle Shane Brancato’s net to give the Soo a 1 – 0 lead with Jacob Partridge and Taylor Woolcott adding the contributors on Canadians first of the contest 17:45 into the first. Veteran Eagle forward, Jacob Palmerio evens the game 1 – 1 with his 17th of the season at the 14:57 mark of the middle stanza with Jake Lamberty and William Casey notching the assists on Palmerio’s goal. Hayden Clark sinks the go – ahead goal with his fourth of the Soo to bring the lead to 2 – 1. Bobby Price and Nick Techel set up the Eagles second of the contest. With 59 remaining in the game, Christian Bardarson scores the hosts third of the game to give the Eagles their first win of the season over Rayside Balfour. Brendan Blair and CJ Banser had the helpers on Bardarson’s 28th of the season. Eagle netminder Shane Brancato stopped 33 of 34 shots in the Soo’s 3 – 1 win.

The Eagles next opponent will be the fifth place Elliot Lake Wildcats at the Centennial Arena in Elliot Lake on January 18th in a west division match – up. Game time will be 7:30 p.m.
