The (2-0-0-2) Sault College Cougars headed south to face the Schoolcraft College Ocelots in American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) DIII men’s hockey action on October 13th and 14th in Livonia, Michigan.
In game one of the weekend on Friday evening at the Redford Arena, forward Ryan Vendramin led the Cougars with five goals and one assist in Sault College’s 9 – 5 win over the Ocelots. Mark Khull sank one goal and contributed on four more for the Cougars in their third win of the 2017 – 2018 season. Tyler Brown, Kevin Lanoix and Jamie Kamzol each scored one goal each along with Brown adding two helpers for the Blue and Black on Friday the 13th. Jake Lewis, Nick Trecroce and Thomas Zwiers had assists on Cougar goals with Lewis and Trecroce registering two each while Zwiers had one. Braedan Turco earned the win in Sault College’s win in Livonia against the Ocelots.
In a noon puck drop in Livonia, Michigan on October 14th, the Cougars returned to action against the Ocelots. Defenseman Cole Peck, forwards Mark Khull and Tyler Brown scored seven of the nine in Sault College’s 9 – 3 win on Sunday afternoon. Brown had two while Peck and Khull each sunk two a piece. Ryan Vendramin added to his weekend total with contributing five goals for the Cougars. Kevin Thrower and Cody Poirier registered singles each for Sault College while Lucas Duckstein, Brown and Poirier drew a helper each while Khull and Lewis finished game two with two more assists each. Drew Gregory had the win between the pipes in the Cougars second straight win of the weekend in Livonia.
“We started out slow on Saturday but pick the intensity throughout the game and carried it into Sunday, everyone did their job and we were successful because of it” said defenseman Cole Peck.
