Cougar Men’s Hockey to Host Finlandia Lions, December 1st/2nd in Collegiate Action Cancelled

On December 1st and 2nd, the (9-0-0-2) Sault College Cougar American Collegiate Hockey Association’s (ACHA) men’s hockey program will host the (8-2) Finalndia JV Lions in collegiate hockey action at the Rankin Arena has been cancelled due to lack of players.

In their first two meetings in Houghton, Michigan on October 27th and 28th, the Cougars returned to Sault Ste Marie with one win and one loss to the Lions. In game one of the back to back games, Sault College defeated Finlandia 5 – 3 before losing game two with a score of 4 – 3. Ryan Vendramin leads the Sault Ste Marie, Ontario based ACHA representatives with 18 goals and 14 assists in nine regular season games followed by Tyler Brown and Mark Khull combining for a total of 56 points with Brown’s 12 goals and 19 helpers with 11 games along with Khull’s 10 goals and 15 contributors in 10 games in the fall of 2017.

Goaltenders Carter Bissonette, Braedan Turco and Drew Gregory combined for a goals against average of 4.08. Second year Bissonette enters this weekend with a 4 – 0 record while rookies Turco and Gregory have 5 – 0 record between the two with Gregory having three and Turco with two wins each.
