After opening their 2017 – 2018 Ontario Collegiate College Association Basketball season with two hard fought 55-52 and 75-74 losses to the Conestoga Condors on October 27th and 28th, the Sault College Cougars men’s basketball programs hit the road to meet the Humber Hawks on November 3rd and 4th in Toronto, Ontario.
In game one of the weekend, Ceesay Fafa (2nd Season/Business/Toronto, ON) and Donte James led the Cougars in Toronto with a combined 30 points with Fafa (1 assist/1 rebound) along with James (2 assists/2 rebounds) in Sault College’s 109 – 69 loss to the Hawks on Saturday evening. Rookie Lam Rik (1st Season/Pre-Health/Edmonton, AB) had 12 points (2 assists/1 rebound) in his third game as a Cougar. Heading into the first half, Sault College sank 23 points while adding another 46 in the second half in their loss to Humber.
On Sunday afternoon against Humber, Lam added another 14 points (3 assists) to his weekend totals in the Cougars 123 – 52 loss while Modou Ceesay (2nd Season/Business/Toronto, ON) and Nate Kwofie (2nd Season/Social Service Worker/Toronto, ON) combined for a total of 16 points for Sault College. Ceesay sank nine (2 assists/4 rebounds) along with Kwofie sinking seven (2 rebounds) in Sault College’s loss in Toronto. The Cougars had 21 points entering into the third quarter before adding another 31 in the second half of their game.
The ninth place (0-4) Cougars will now head to Windsor, Ontario to meet the tenth place (0-3) St. Clair Saints on November 11th and 12th.
