On Thursday October 12th in junior and senior Sault Ste Marie High School Football League action in the final week of regular play, the Superior Heights Steelhawks took on the Korah Colts at Superior Heights. In senior action, the (5 – 0) Colts would clinch first seed with a win over the (4 – 1) Steelhawks.
In senior action, the Steelhawks headed into halftime with a 21 – 0 lead over the Colts. When the final buzzer sounded, Korah rallied back to defeat Superior Heights in a 26 – 23 win and improve their season to 6 – 0 heading into the post – season. With finishing atop of the Sault Ste Marie High School Football League standings, the Colts will meet the (0 – 5) White Pines Wolverines in semi – final action.
On Korah’s offence, Caleb Patteri carried the ball 24 times for a total of 29 yards while Matt Johnson finished the game with two receptions of 79 yards along with quarterback Jordan Robinson Wright completed five passes on eight attempts for 97 total yards that included one touchdown and one interception. Steelhawk quarterback, Ethan Johnson passed for 219 yards in Superior Heights loss with 14 completions on 23 attempts. Johnson had one touchdown and three interceptions. Steelhawk Rob Wright caught the ball six times on a total of 88 yards while Ethan Yandeau had four cathches for 84 yards for Superior Heights.
Steelhawk defence was led by Superior Heights lineman Deven Stasiuk who had seven solo tackles and two assisted tackles with Joe Rosso and Josh Brunet adding six solos and one assisted tackle a piece. Nick Roussain had four solo tackles, one assisted tackle and two sacks for Superior Heights.
The Colts fell to the Steelhawks in junior Sault Ste Marie High School Football action in a 28 – 26 hard fought loss at Superior Heights on Thursday evening.
The (0 – 5) Wolverines and (1 – 4) Knights will close out the 2017 Sault Ste Marie High School Football season on October 13th at Superior Heights in junior and senior action with game times at 4:45 p.m and 7:30 p.m respectively. The second place Steelhawks will take on the third place Knights on October 19th in semi – final action.
