Algoma Students Take Their Bows to Compete in 2017 Invitational

On May 17th and 18th students from the Algoma area attended the 2017 Ontario High School Archery Invitational.

As the north has never attended this before and as the schools here don’t have archery in their school sports programs, the student athletes qualified and attended this tournament on their own time and at their own cost.

This is an annual event organized by James Dowhaniuk of the Peel School Board held in Richmond Hill, Ontario. As many as 500 students from all over Ontario participated in the two day event.

The students from the following schools Central Algoma Secondary School, Superior Heights, White Pines, Ecole Secondarie St Joseph (Wawa), Michipicoten High School (Wawa) and Dubreuilville High School truly showed the rest of Ontario what the north is made of!

Every student shot amazing with some shooting their personal best scores!
