Algoma Men’s Soccer Held to One Goal in Doubleheader Soccer Action

The West division leaders, the Guelph Gryphons came into Sault Ste Marie, Ontario on September 16th and 17th to face the Algoma U Thunderbirds men’s program at Superior Heights in USport soccer action.

On Saturday afternoon at Superior Heights, the Thunderbirds were held to one goal in the 4 – 1 loss to the Gryphons with Algoma’s Brandon Bangambee scoring the lone goal for the hosts. On Sunday, it was an even harder loss for the Thunderbirds with Guelph shutting out Algoma 7 – 0 in men’s action. Thunderbird goaltender Tanvir Grewal made nine saves on the weekend against the Gryphons.

The (1 – 5) Thunderbirds will face the (1 – 4 – 2) Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks on September 23rd and 24th in Waterloo in 3:00 p.m match – ups.
