200 Cadet Biathletes Converging On Sault Ste Marie, Ontario

The 2015 Cadet Biathlon Northern Ontario Area Completion will take place from January 30th and 31st with relay races taking starting on Saturday, January 30th from 10:30 a.m to 3:00 p.m while on Sunday, January 31st from 10:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. for individual races at the Algoma Rod & Gun Club Biathlon Range, 226 Connor Road, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.

This Olympic-style competition is the Second of Four Stages and will consist of 200 athletes cross-country skiing 1 – 2 km loops through the  challenging terrain of Sault Ste Marie and shooting .22-calibre rifles at falling-plate targets in the range stadium. Sea, Army and Air Cadets will be representing communities of the Western, and Eastern parts of Northern Ontario.

These cadets will travel from locations as far West as Red Lake, East, Renfrew and as far North as Kapuskasing to compete in this competition. The top cadet teams and individuals of this event will compete again in Sault Ste Marie on February 13th and 14th in the Regional Competition which will be for top awards in the province of Ontario.

The Fourth and Final Stage will be the National Cadet Biathlon held in Val Cartier, Quebec and will feature the top cadets in Canada.
